Beginning in 2025, Kruger & Hodges intends to debut its Personal Growth Through Leadership Scholarship. The scholarship promises $2,500 to a stand-out student leader whose experience has transformed their goals for their future.
Students have until October 15, 2025, to fill out the scholarship form on the Kruger & Hodges website. They must also complete a two to three-minute essay detailing their leadership experience, the obstacles they faced as leaders, and the steps they took to overcome those obstacles.
Application Requirements
Kruger & Hodges invites undergraduate and graduate students in all fields of study to apply for its Personal Growth Through Leadership Scholarship. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must prove that they:
- Are enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States
- Have submitted all of the application’s essential materials
- Agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions
Students who meet these criteria may complete a video addressing the scholarship’s topic of choice. Applicants’ videos may be no more than three minutes long and must make it to the scholarship selection committee before October 15, 2025. Students can upload a URL link leading to their unlisted video via the scholarship application form on this page.
Kruger & Hodges’ scholarship selection committee will not consider applications submitted without all essential materials or presented by students who don’t meet the scholarship’s application criteria. Likewise, the firm will not consider applications submitted after the submission deadline passes.
Scholarship Video Topic
Applicants vying for the Personal Growth Through Leadership Scholarship should create a two to three-minute video discussing a chapter in their lives when they took on a leadership position. Kruger & Hodges wants to hear about the achievements of today’s sports captains, volunteer leaders, and champion volunteers.
A student’s video should address:
- The challenges they faced in their leadership position
- The steps a student took to overcome challenges while in leadership positions
- Valuable lessons a student learned from their time in a leadership position
- How a student’s leadership experience impacted their educational/professional aspirations
Students’ videos should be no longer than three minutes. Once students complete their video, they can upload it to their YouTube account as an unlisted video. Students can then include a URL to that unlisted video along with the application form they fill out through Kruger & Hodges’ website.
Tips and Tricks for Filming a Scholarship Video
Students creating scholarship videos should:
- Record videos in well-lit areas
- Hold their recording devices as still as possible
- Include their full name and the name of the Personal Growth Through Leadership Scholarship in the first ten seconds of their video
- Reference any sources they use in their video
- Use copyright-free content to supplement their videos/add to a video’s visual interest
- Make a note of any media editing tools they used to craft their video in the video’s description
Kruger & Hodges invites students to use a suite of media editing tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud, to improve video transitions and/or add to the visual interest of their videos. However, the team will not judge students’ videos based on their editing quality.
The team also wants students to limit their use of AI in video creation. Students may use AI to generate B-roll footage for their videos. However, students may not use AI to create fake characters for their videos, modify their voices, or generate their video scripts. The inappropriate use of AI will result in a student’s automatic disqualification from the applicant pool.
Application Deadline
Applicants have until October 15, 2025, to complete their videos and submit their scholarship forms to Kruger & Hodges’ scholarship selection committee. The committee will not review applications submitted after this deadline passes.
Kruger & Hodges reserves up to three months after the scholarship deadline to select its scholarship winner. For legal reasons, the firm cannot accept calls, emails, or other communications asking for updates on a student’s application. Neither students nor their families should contact the firm.
If the firm requires more information to select a scholarship winner, a representative will contact applicable students.
